Season 15 quietly gives Diablo 4 players a better way to finish the gear they already care about. The Horadric Cube will let an eligible Unique become its Mythic version without wiping away the work invested in it. That matters if you have spent hours chasing the right affixes, Tempering the item, and pushing its Masterworking ranks. Rather than throwing that progress aside, you can carry it forward, which makes a well-prepared item one of the most valuable Diablo 4 Items in your stash.

A Better Use for a Strong Unique

Blizzard calls the recipe "Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic." It costs more than the other Mythic crafting options, but it gives you a known result. Put in an eligible Unique, and you receive that same item in Mythic form. Its useful affixes stay in place. So do its Tempering effects and Masterworking investment. You are not starting over with a fresh drop that may not suit your build.

Why the Crafted Tag Still Matters

There is a catch, and it will shape serious endgame planning. A Mythic made through the Cube carries a Crafted tag, and only one Mythic with that tag can be equipped at a time. That means you cannot convert every prized Unique and fill your build with these upgraded pieces. Mythics made through the Jeweler's Rune Crafting method do not carry the same tag, while items from the Blacksmith's Mythic Cache are also outside that restriction. The source of an item now matters almost as much as the item itself.

Do Not Ruin Your Candidate by Accident

The recipe also refuses items marked Unmodifiable. Blizzard has warned that Transfiguring a valuable candidate may make it ineligible, so take a moment before altering anything you hope to upgrade later. Treat that Unique as a project. Check its status, inspect the affixes, and make sure the Tempering fits your build before spending rare materials. You very quickly notice the difference between improving an item for today and preparing one that may sit in your final setup for months.

A More Deliberate Mythic Path

The Jeweler's method still has a place. It lets you target an equipment slot, then produces a class-appropriate Mythic without requiring a specific Unique first. The Cube serves a different player: someone who already found the right base and refuses to lose its identity. Season 15 also adds regular versions of several iconic Mythics and introduces Legacy Uniques, giving builds more room to grow before the rarest upgrades arrive. Keep an eye on PTR adjustments, since costs and values may move before launch. If you are gathering materials for a carefully planned conversion, it may be sensible to buy D4 Gold only after confirming the live recipe and your item's eligibility.
